Our Farm
At Riverbank Farms we practice holistic and regenerative farming practices. Our whole philosophy is rooted in the concept of allowing animals to live their best lives, exhibit their natural tendencies, and protect and improve the environment and community we farm in. By following these practices, we produce high quality, nutritiously dense, ethically raised and processed food for your family. All of our animals are fed Non-GMO grain milled by Sunrise Farms in Stuarts Draft, VA.
Our Story
Local Family Farm
In 1997, Andy and Lori Dixon with—5-year-old Jack—purchased a rundown, abandoned piece of property along the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. Jack grew up on the farm as they restored the main house, circa 1788. Andy always had a few cows, chickens and pigs around, but mostly just for the family. In 2019, Jack, a professional fireman, and Nicole, a practicing attorney in Northern Virginia, were given the opportunity to purchase Riverbank from Jack’s parents. During the pandemic Nicole and Jack made the decision to return home to the Valley, and both moved their professional lives back to Rockingham County. In 2022, with the arrival of their son Brennan, Jack took up the mantle as a stay-at -home dad and ran the property as a wedding and event venue. In the Spring of 2023, Jack decided to raise some meat birds for their own family but found that many folks were interested in locally produced, non-GMO fed chicken and pork and our journey in regenerative agriculture started.
